Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

If you have any questions you would like answered, or you have ideas to add, please let us know! We value your input!

Q. What is iHUB? ( intelligence HUB )
A.
iHUB is an independent, non-profit organization, founded in 2004 and run by the volunteer efforts of our members and all people who share our concerns about the future of humanity.

The idea behind this organization is a simple and yet powerful vision and it was conceived by the founder’s father, a distinguished scientist, after spending 3 days as a hostage during the 2002 terrorist occupation of the theater in Moscow.

The mission is to unite and safeguard humanity, and ensure sustainable global development using science as the main instrument.

Therefore we are trying to bring together scientists who will be answering and questioning main global problems and like-minded supporters all over the world who stand in full support towards the goals and mission of iHUB Organization.

The role of iHUB is to act as a coordination center, aiming for:
• Evaluating the problem and threats and making the public aware of it
• Researching the problem
• Developing methods for minimizing risks
• Eliminating or minimizing negative impacts
• Linking like-minded individuals and organizations together in order to work in coalition with one another

Q.
Who are you?

A. We are an independent, non-profit organization founded and run by the volunteer efforts of our members and all people who share our concerns about the future of humanity.

Q. What are your goals?
A. We believe that humanity today is facing a complex set of political, social, environmental, scientific problems, which endanger the future of our civilization and threaten the very existence of the human race.
We see our mission in uniting humanity to overcome these threats (and raise the quality of life around the world) by means of stimulating scientific breakthroughs, which will ultimately provide the solutions to these problems. Together we need to learn how to utilize progress for the benefit of humanity, while at the same time minimizing its negative impact.

Q. What are the primary concerns?
A. Our primary concern is to safeguard humanity and ensure sustainable development on a universal scale. To achieve this goal, we are asking people around the world to tell us what their primary concerns are and to let us know what global threats worry them the most.

Q. What is your relationship to organizations like Red Cross, Greenpeace, Amnesty International, etc.? Is there a real need for one more organization which mission is, generally speaking, “to save the world”?
A. While we do share many common ideals with such organizations, we differ from them in our holistic approach that avoids concentrating on any one specific issue. The serious problems facing humanity require a holistic approach to find the critical variables responsible for causing and aggravating these problems, while making the survival of humanity our number one priority. The holistic approach to solving problems is well established in the scientific community; therefore, as a first step we intend to unite the scientific minds, pool their intellectual capabilities and focus on finding solutions and strategies. Simply drawing public attention to the problems is not enough! Time is running out for many problems confronting humanity, thus the urgent need for action to find viable solutions and strategies before we reach the point of no return!

Q. How do you see the future of the world? What barriers are to be removed to achieve it?
A.
1. Harnessing technology to find solutions instead of causing destruction is a large part of the answer.

2. We also see a need for the transformation of current/present western “consumer society” to a “responsible society” (a society which takes responsibility for future generations). We can do this by informing and educating the general public, and establishing a healthy balance between rights and obligations.

3. We would like to promote awareness and open - mindedness in developing countries towards the available opportunities and scientific progress by sharing our knowledge and experiences, while still respecting cultural differences. Hopefully, we can learn from our mistakes and not have to repeat them.

4. We need to respect the right of individuals to choose their own belief system, while using education as the tool to teach tolerance. Extremist behaviour that results in harm to people or the environment cannot be eliminated by force and represents a very real threat to global society. History has shown repeatedly that extremist behaviour is never eradicated invasion or force, and, in fact, results in more harm to humanity and our planet. Our only hope is to convince people that we share the same planet, and need to work together to save it.

5. The current state of diplomatic relationships between world powers (G8) is not working to eliminate global threats, and a better system needs to be developed.

6. We need to develop new, renewable sources of energy.

7. Space exploration shows promise as a source of minerals and metals which will be depleted on Earth sooner or later. In the meantime, however, we need to have a more rational expenditure of the resources we still have here on Earth.

8. We need to recognize that human beings have a fundamental desire for community and belonging, and that many extremist groups are successful in part, because of their ability to make their members feel that sense of community and belonging. We need to find a way to connect people from all countries, colours, races, and belief systems, so that we are working together as part of the same team, working together with the common goal of ensuring that future generations actually have a future.
